CBRF 20:20 - £20k fundraiser to celebrate Jigsaw4u's 20th anniversary
CBRF 20:20 is Close Brothers Retail Finance supercharged initiative to raise £20,000 in less than 100 days for Mitcham based charity Jigsaw4u to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Since launching the initiative, Close Brothers have engaged with the local community to hold fundraising activities and in this article we are going to cover some of the key highlights so far.
Thames Path Challenge
The Thames Path is unique; it's the only long distance path to follow a river for most of its length. The full route began at Bishop's Park, next to Putney Bridge, and on through leafy Kew and Richmond past the last non-tidal lock at Teddington. It passes the Royal palace of Hampton Court, beneath Windsor Castle and on through beautiful countryside to Henley.
The team consisted of representatives from Premium Finance, Asset Finance, Retail Finance and Bank Central Functions who walked alongside our retailers and partners to take on the 25km, 50km or 100km challenge.
The team showed their drive, commitment and resilience to complete this incredible challenge. Don’t underestimate how tough it was to walk through sun, rain and mud for hours on end in the quest to complete this ultra-marathon. Everyone battled blisters, tired legs, exhaustion and fatigue to make it to 50km with Mike Morris and Paul Hutchins from Close Brothers Retail Finance making a monumental effort to complete the 100km in 28 hours! That is some serious walking! There is always one who tries to make it look easy though with our very own Alex Marsh completing the 50km in a staggering 5 hours – coming 6th out of all who entered! An incredible feat!
What is next for CBRF 20:20?
Abseiling to £20k
ArcelorMittal Orbit is a 114.5 metre tall sculpture in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford originally designed and created for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Made up of 35,000 bolts and enough steel to make 265 double decker buses from the top you can view over 20 miles over the London skyline.
Here is the exciting part… 13 of our brave Close Brothers employees are going to be abseiling down it on 14th October! They are all plucking up the courage to abseil down the 114m sculpture all for charity, to raise even more money for Jigsaw4u and from this small team alone we aim to raise almost £3,000.

With prizes kindly donated by our retailers/partners from theatre tickets for Kinky Boots to bicycles signed by professional riders to signed sporting memorabilia there is something for everyone and all money raised will go directly to Jigsaw4u.
So far we have raised a massive £3000+ in money form the silent auction and we are less that one week in!
Bidding closes – Updates on the latest winning bids will be provided over the coming days and weeks on the website and also via email, with final bids closing at 12 noon Friday 22 September!
As a team we are incredibly proud to have raised so much money for our local charity Jigsaw4u, we have seen literally everyone in our Close Brothers Retail Finance team get involved to help Jigsaw4u. Whether it’s the activities we have highlighted in this article or standing outside the local supermarket cycling 100km to raise money or even our CBRF bake off!
A special thanks to all of the team, our retailers, partners and everyone who has contributed so far to this amazing achieve.
